Yesterday was another important step towards the conclusion to this year’s Repco Supercars Championship in Adelaide.
The rebirth of the event following Peter Malinauskas’ victory in the South Australian state election continues after it was formally launched yesterday at Victoria Square.
Drivers of South Australian origin Nick Percat, Todd Hazelwood, Tim Slade and Scott Pye were all in attendance to mingle with the fans. In addition, current Repco Supercars Championship leader Shane van Gisbergen, Brodie Kostecki, Will Davison, Lee Holdsworth, Thomas Randle and Chris Pither were also in attendance.
Also announced was the event’s new naming rights partner, an Australian advanced technology company focused on ultra high-powered LED lighting.
An array of support categories headlined by the Dunlop Super2/3 Series will return to the streets of Adelaide alongside S5000, GTs and Touring Car Masters in a program catering for all motorsport fans.
Further to this, the circuit will be resurfaced prior to the event scheduled for December 1-4, with works commencing next week. More than 70 percent of the circuit will be completely resurfaced in what is the biggest project of its type in its history.
The pit lane and paddock areas will also be upgraded, as will pedestrian walkways.
South Australian Motorsport Chief Executive Mark Warren stated the works will add to the already exciting event Adelaide consistently provides.
“We are investing in various initiatives to improve the fan experience and racing, including the track resurfacing,” Warren said.
“This will see improved grip, tyre degradation and more overtaking and strategy for teams.”
Spectators will enjoy the lowest ticket prices in more than a decade, with adult general admission the cheapest at $29 and concession at $26 on Thursday.
Friday prices start at $59 for adults and $53 concession, while race day costs are $89 and $79 respectively.
Four-day passes start at $159 making this an accessible event for Adelaide’s starved motorsport fans.
“We have worked hard to craft a ticketing package which is as affordable as possible,” Warren added.
“This year’s VALO Adelaide 500 is going to be something special and cutting ticket prices means even more people will be able to see it.”
The Valo Adelaide 500 returns on December 1-4.
