Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen replicated his performance from yesterday to secure provisional pole heading into Sunday’s Top 10 Shootout.
A lap of 1m 10.263s was the benchmark set by van Gisbergen as Shell V-Power Racing’s Will Davison just fell short by 0.019s to be second, while polesitter from yesterday David Reynolds was third in the Penrite Mustang.
Monster Energy Racing’s Cameron Waters was fourth, 0.205s behind van Gisbergen’s benchmark as Mobil 1 Optus Racing’s Chaz Mostert followed ahead of Alspec Racing driver Scott Pye, Thomas Randle in the Castrol Racing Mustang made second Top 10 Shootout in a row and Anton De Pasquale.
Brodie Kostecki was ninth for Boost Mobile Racing by Erebus, while a great final lap from PremiAir Subway Racing’s James Golding placed him 10th to make the Shootout, bumping van Gisbergen’s teammate Broc Feeney out.
IRWIN Racing’s Mark Winterbottom was 12th from Lee Holdsworth, Will Brown and Todd Hazelwood.
After an engine problem dropped him out of contention in yesterday’s race, Andre Heimgartner was a disappointing 20th following a stoush with fellow New Zealander van Gisbergen.
The only major problem occurred for Tim Slade as he clipped the inside wall at Turn 10 damaging the suspension of his Blanchard Racing Team Ford Mustang.
The Top 10 Shootout is scheduled for 11:35am AEST (12:35pm AEDT) before Race 32 of the Repco Supercars Championship at 2:15pm AEST (3:15pm AEDT).
