Rising star Cameron Hill will make his Repco Bathurst 1000 debut this October after being announced as Chris Pither’s co-driver in the Coca Cola PremiAir Racing Holden Commodore.
Hill dominated last year’s Porsche Carrera Cup Australia title and has impressed this season after making the step up to Dunlop Super2 with the reigning series winners Triple Eight Race Engineering.
The maiden season for PremiAir Racing has been a turbulent one as the Peter Xiberras owned squad navigates its way through as performances have remained steady.
“This will be my first main game race, and what better way to make my debut,” said Hill.
“While it may be my first time at Bathurst in a Supercar, I’ve got plenty of laps under my belt, having recently won the Bathurst 6 Hour after starting 60th due to a technical infringement. I’ve also raced in the Bathurst 12 Hour, in Carrera Cup, and the Toyota 86 Racing Series.”
“For me, this is going to be an incredible experience, and I’m looking forward to being on the mountain. Hopefully, between Chris and I we can achieve a great result.”
Four seats remain within the main game teams for Bathurst, including one in the sister Subway PremiAir Racing Commodore partnering James Golding.
The others are alongside Todd Hazelwood at Matt Stone Racing, Brad Jones Racing partnering Jack Smith and teaming with Scott Pye at Team18, while Wildcard seats have been filled following Jaylyn Robotham’s confirmation he will pair with Matt Chahda in a privateer campaign using Walkinshaw Andretti United equipment.
Further moves by Anderson Motorsport to enter a Dick Johnson Racing Ford Mustang are yet to be revealed following its driver, team boss Michael Anderson having his Superlicence acceptance scuppered.
Further announcements are due next week, with highly rated young guns Jayden Ojeda, Tyler Everingham, Dylan O’Keeffe, Angelo Mouzouris, Thomas Maxwell and Matt McLean also thought to be among the candidates for the remaining co-driver seats.
Other experienced names not yet secured include previous Bathurst winner Luke Youlden, David Wall and Ash Walsh leaving plenty of competition within the ranks.
