Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney has fought off an early challenge from fellow Camaro driver Andre Heimgartner to take his fourth victory of the season at Hidden Valley.
Feeney led from start-to-finish as teammate Shane van Gisbergen made it a 1-2 after a late race pass on the R&J Batteries Racing Camaro as the Chevrolets continue to sit atop of the race results.
Contact was made on the opening lap between rookies Declan Fraser in the TRADIE Racing Mustang and Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne, which also involved the Truck Assist Racing Camaro of Jack Le Brocq in addition to SCT Motorsport’s Jack Smith as all four entered the pits with damage.
Fighting for the lead Ford honours, Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds was tipped into a spin by Nick Percat in his Mobil 1 NTI Mustang, who was penalised for the contact post-race.
Behind the lead three, Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus duo Brodie Kostecki and Will Brown rounded out the top five from Nulon Racing’s James Golding, Macauley Jones in the Pizza Hut Racing Camaro, his teammate Bryce Fullwood in the Middy’s entry as Scott Pye capped off a Chevrolet lock out of the first nine positions in his Hino-backed example.
The first Ford Mustang was Thomas Randle for Castrol Racing in 10th ahead of Tim Slade, Cam Waters from 22nd, Chaz Mostert from further back and Todd Hazelwood leading rookie Cameron Hill.
The final event in Darwin for the Repco Supercars Championship is due to begin at 3:25pm ACST/3:55pm AEST.
