Brodie Kostecki takes opening pole in Darwin

The rain held off just enough for Brodie Kostecki to take pole in Darwin for this afternoon’s opening race in the Top End.

Kostecki missed most of the earlier practice session due to a throttle body problem, but he had the Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang hooked up in Qualifying to take pole.

A 1m 06.037s did the job for Kostecki as he’ll share the front-row with another Erebus Motorsport alumni in DEWALT Racing’s Anton De Pasquale after the latter fell 0.025s.

Mustangs lockout the second row led by Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne and Cam Waters for Monster Castrol Racing.

Maintaining his fifth from practice was PremiAir Racing’s Jayden Ojeda as Ryan Wood led the Toyota attack in sixth for Mobil 1 Truck Assist Racing.

Kai Allen made it two Penrite Racing Mustangs in the top 10 by lining up seventh alongside Snowy River Racing’s David Reynolds.

Just one Red Bull Ampol Racing Mustang appeared in the top 10 courtesy of Will Brown, while Andre Heimgartner rounds out the first five rows in the R&J Batteries Racing Toyota GR Supra.

Chaz Mostert led those to be knocked out before the second segment of Qualifying reserved for the top 10, with Jack Le Brocq, Broc Feeney, Macauley Jones and Cam Hill up next.

Race 17 of the Repco Supercars Championship is set to begin at 5:00pm ACST/5:30pm AEST.
