Cam Waters on top in third practice for Repco Bathurst 1000

Three drivers became the first to dip into the 2m 04s as Tickford Racing’s Cam Waters led the way in Practice 3.

Waters replicated his top of the timesheets performance in opening practice to record a 2m 04.7385s lap, 0.2436s clear of reigning Repco Bathurst 1000 winner Shane van Gisbergen, while Chaz Mostert set the third fastest time in his Walkinshaw Andretti United Holden Commodore.

A change earlier this week opened the session up to both regular and co-drivers. Most teams started with co-drivers to again clock valuable miles ahead of the main event as only another opportunity follows early this afternoon ahead of qualifying.

Van Gisbergen’s co-driver Garth Tander and yesterday’s fast man Lee Holdsworth led the way outside the primary competitors.

A late flurry of laps from Waters, van Gisbergen and Mostert demoted Jamie Whincup’s 2m 05.0109s, leaving Anton De Pasquale to round out the top five.

James Courtney, Brodie Kostecki, Jack Le Brocq, Will Davison and Tim Slade completed the top 10.

Practice 4 is scheduled for 1:30pm this afternoon before Race 31 Qualifying at 4:35pm.
