Erebus end Friday fastest

Jack Le Brocq put Erebus Motorsport on top of t5he timesheets to complete Friday’s action at the Penrite Oil Sandown 500.

Le Brocq’s time of 1m 08.277s just edged championship leader Will Brown was 0.039s in arrears driving the first Red Bull Ampol Racing Chevrolet.

Rounding out the top three was Andre Heimgartner in the R&J Batteries Racing Camaro just 0.137s off the pace.

Richie Stanaway upheld the Mustang honour in fourth for Penrite Racing leading Broc Feeney in the second Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro, the retro Monster Castrol Racing Ford of Thomas Randle and Tyler Everingham, with the second Erebus Motorsport entry of Brodie Kostecki/Todd Hazelwood placing seventh.

Form driver Chaz Mostert was eighth in the Mobil 1 Optus Racing he will share with Lee Holdsworth ahead of Cam Waters for Monster Castrol Racing Mustang partnered by James Moffat, while Matt Payne made it two Penrite Racing entries in the top 10.

Those to finish outside included Mark Winterbottom, David Reynolds/Warren Luff, Anton De Pasquale, Will Davison/Kai Allen and Nick Percat/Dylan O’Keeffe in the final session.

Practice 4 will open the Repco Supercars Championship’s Saturday action at 9:55am AEST ahead of qualifying and the Top 10 Shootout.
