Ford leads the way at Bathurst

With just one practice session remaining ahead of qualifying this afternoon, Ford leads the way at the Mountain.

Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Will Davison led the way in the third practice session, posting a 2m 04.207s to head Monster Energy Racing’s Cam Waters by 0.199s as Brodie Kostecki prevented a Ford 1-2-3 in his Boost Mobile Racing by Erebus ZB Commodore.

In a session where teams practiced pit procedures, there were no red flags in the dry conditions although there were continued troubles for the Boost Mobile Wildcard shared by Greg Murphy and Richie Stanaway after a starter motor problem was encountered yesterday.

Team Blanchard Racing’s Tim Slade ended the third practice in fourth in a promising sign for the squad, while reigning Repco Bathurst 1000 winner Chaz Mostert was fifth.

Kostecki’s Boost Mobile Racing by Erebus teammate Will Brown completed the session sixth from R&J Batteries BJR’s Andre Heimgartner, the second Shell V-Power Racing Team Ford Mustang driven by Anton De Pasquale, Thomas Randle in the Castrol Racing entry and championship leader Shane van Gisbergen in the lead Red Bull Ampol Racing Team ZB Commodore rounded out the top 10.

Craig Lowndes was the lead Wildcard entry in 14th as Matt Chahda was 26th in the Caltex Young Stars ZB Commodore and Stanaway 28th.

Broc Feeney and Jamie Whincup were placed 17th in the second Red Bull Ampol Racing Team ZB Commodore as preparations now turn to the fourth practice session of the event at 1:00pm before qualifying occurs at 4:15pm.
