Ford wins Pikes Peak

Ford has won the 104th running of the historic Pikes Peak International Hill Climb.

Romain Dumas took his sixth King of the Mountain title in Ford’s latest creation, the Super Mustang Mach-E EV.

Setting a time of 8m 18.202s up the 19.99km course featuring 156 corners and sheer drops off the mountain.

The Ford is up against some wild creations including Robin hut’s Sendycar V1, which ran second in the event.

Built by noted Rallycross operation STARD Advanced Research and Development in correspondence with Ford, the Super Mustang Mach-E EV is fully electric featuring three UHP 6-Phase motors sending 1421bhp through the rear wheels.

It debuted in last year’s event featuring regenerative braking of 710kW and lost 72kg in weight compared to the previous F150-based hillclimb dominator.

Pirelli has designed and engineered specific tyres for the Super Mustang Mach-E EV, while the downforce it produces is around 3100kg.

Dumas is already a four-time champion and has added another in the Super Mustang Mach-E EV at Pikes Peak.
