Jack Le Brocq has set the fastest time in the second and final session of practice at the NTI Townsville 500.
Placing his Truck Assist Racing Chevrolet Camaro at the top of the timesheets on a 1m 13.432s, Le Brocq led the Middy’s Racing example of Bryce Fullwood by 0.247s and Cam Waters led the Ford charge in third driving the Monster Energy Racing Mustang.
Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Shane van Gisbergen and Andre Heimgartner in his R&J Batteries entry made it four Camaros inside the top five.
The pacesetter from opening practice was sixth in the form of Will Brown in the Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus Camaro, with Scott Pye trailing in the Hino Chevrolet and lead rookie Matt Payne’s Penrite Racing Mustang.
Broc Feeney was ninth and veteran James Courtney completed the top 10 in the Snowy River Racing Ford.
The only problem encountered during the session was a brake lock up for championship leader Brodie Kostecki at Turn 3 in the Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus Chevrolet Camaro as he finished in 14th.
Penrite Racing’s David Reynolds was 11th as the Shell V-Power Racing Team attack was led by Will Davison in 13th, while Anton De Pasquale was back in 22nd, Chaz Mostert placed 15th, Mark Winterbottom 18th, Nick Percat 19th and Todd Hazelwood was 20th after setting second fastest time in the opening session.
It’s straight into qualifying for the Repco Supercars Championship tomorrow ahead of a Top 10 Shootout and the first 250km event, with action starting at 10:15am AEST.
