Local team end opening at Bathurst on top

M Motorsport has finished Friday at the Repco Bathurst 12 hour on top of the timesheets following the second Bronze Only Drivers practice session.

Garth Walden clocked a 2m 05.331s to set the pace from the Wash It/Jamec Racing Audi R8 LMS GT3 Evo 2 of Liam Talbot, who was 0.197s off the pace.

Local Bathurst driver Brad Schumacher was third in the KFC/Jamec Racing Audi ahead of the SunEnergy1 Racing Mercedes-AMG of Kenny Habul and Yasser Shahin driving the Manthey EMA Porsche.

There were no interruptions in the session completing a clean day of running, which didn’t come at a cost to fast times. The threat of rain remained throughout the session, however apart from a minor shower the session was run in dry conditions.

Outside of the top five, Prince Jefri Ibrahim continued his strong pace in sixth driving the Triple Eight Race Engineering Mercedes-AMG.

Valmont Racing’s Sergio Pires followed in another Audi from Heart of Racing’s Ian James, Adrian Deitz in the Wall Racing Lamborghini Huracan GT3 Evo and the Supabarn Supermarkets Mercedes-AMG of Theo Koundouris completed the top 10 GT runners.

The Tekworkx Motorsport IRC GT led the way in Invitational, while Daniel Bilski continued Mercedes-AMG’s run at the top in GT4.

Action at the Repco Bathurst 12 Hour continues tomorrow with two practice sessions, Qualifying and Top 10 Shootout starting at 8:05am AEDT.
