Matt Payne extends Repco Sprint Cup lead with one round remaining

Penrite Racing’s Matt Payne holds the ascendency going into the final round of the Repco Sprint Cup after winning two of the three races at Wanneroo Raceway in Perth.

A timely return to form for Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Broc Feeney limited Payne’s opportunity to build a larger margin than the 118-points he holds heading to Queensland Raceway.

Cam Waters maintains third ahead of Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Brodie Kostecki and Kai Allen after a masterful recovery performance in Race 25.

Anton De Pasquale is just 30-points behind Allen to break the Ford monopoly at the top the standings in the lead Chevrolet.

Red Bull Ampol Racing’s Will Brown is well off the pace, but remains in a finals spot ahead of Walkinshaw TWG Racing duo Chaz Mostert and Ryan Wood.

The trio are clear of the hotly contested battle for the last position in the finals, which is currently held by Jack Le Brocq.

Just 20-points separate Le Brocq and James Golding, while Thomas Randle’s solid round in Perth has him positioned just 99-points behind the Blanchard Racing Team driver.

Nine-points further back is Andre Heimgartner, who is in turn four ahead of Jayden Ojeda.

Finishing strong in Perth has enabled David Reynolds to be a distant chance of finals contention, but at 223-points there is a lot of work to do.
