As one of two Wildcards contesting the Winton SuperSprint last weekend, Jayden Ojeda achieved a major career goal.
In his maiden Repco Supercars Championship appearance, Ojeda joined Walkinshaw Andretti United in a third Holden ZB Commodore after racing for two seasons in Dunlop Super2 where he secured Rookie honours in 2020 and finished fifth last year.
Ojeda is one of the country’s leading young driver talents and has sat out Super2 this season, with a second Wildcard opportunity to come at Darwin next round.
His results at Winton were impressive as he finished 17th in Race 14 and 22nd in the following two events.
“Happy with the weekend overall, I think we showed some good speed, and I had a heap of fun,” he reflected.
“We learnt a lot this weekend which will only help as we prepare for Darwin now, a huge thank you to WAU and all our partners for making this possible.”
Ojeda wasn’t the only Wildcard competing at Winton as Jordan Boys also made his solo Repco Supercars Championship debut in an Erebus Motorsport supported Image Racing Holden ZB Commodore.
Another Super2 driver will make their debut at Darwin in the form of Tickford Racing’s Zak Best.
The next round of the Repco Supercars Championship is in fact Hidden Valley in Darwin scheduled for June 18-19.
