Repco will be out in force this weekend at Meguiar’s MotorEx at the Melbourne Showgrounds.
It will be the 21st edition of Meguiar’s MotorEx, the largest and most prestigious car show in Australia. the event attracts the best custom and modified cars from across the country creating a spectacle covering 40,000 square metres. Expected to attend, more than 700 vehicles worth north of $50 million are supported by Australia’s leading automotive businesses showcasing the latest products in the sector.
Repco will be featured throughout the event headlined by the history making Repco-Brabham BT19 appearing at the Repco stand in The Milwaukee Performance Garage.
Partnering with Jack Brabham and Ron Tauranac, Repco produced the powerplant for the World Drivers’ Championship winning BT119 placing Australia’s engineering ingenuity on the world stage.
Brabham made history in 1966 when he won the World Drivers’ Championship in a chassis bearing his own name, the first and last time this has occurred. The Repco powerplants were designed and built in Melbourne, not far from the Melbourne Showgrounds.
Also joining the BT19 will be the LS2-powered Chevrolet C10 Pick Up, which is ready to thrill the crowds at Meguiar’s MotorEx. Part of Repco’s extensive fleet, the C10 not only uses a modern engine, but borrows its chassis from a Holden Commodore SS and will perform burnouts at this weekend’s event.
The C10 is joined by the newest addition to Repco’s fleet, the Toyota FJ40 Landcruiser.
Featuring a thumping V8 under the bonnet, the FJ40 has been modified extensively to include a custom Stedl lightbar, a Runva 13XP winch and 18” KMC wheels. It will be on display at the Repco stand in the Milwaukee Performance Garage.
The Repco Pitstop Challenge will also be part of the stand where the fastest tyre changes will win a variety of prizes this weekend, the main one being a burnout ride in the Chevrolet C10 Pick Up. Replicating a pit stop in Supercars, the challenge involves inserting the air spike, rattle gunning to remove and fit the tyre, re-fuelling, then hang up the pump. But remember, don’t forget to remove the air spike!
Meguiar’s MotorEx is on this weekend at 9am – 5pm on both Saturday and Sunday at the Melbourne Showgrounds, Epsom Road, Ascot Vale.
