SpongeBob Squarepants makes Supercars debut

Following on from the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles livery from last year, Macauley Jones, Brad Jones Racing and Pizza Hut have turned yellow for SpongeBob Squarepants.

Jones will represent the popular cartoon character at this year’s Formula 1 Rolex Australian Grand Prix in a bright yellow livery, which will be hard to miss for fans trackside.

The hapless character from Bikini Bottom is well known for his lack of composure when testing for his boat licence will brighten up the Supercars field.

SpongeBob Squarepants this year celebrates 25 years on kids channel Nickelodeon and Pizza Hut has aligned with the famous children’s institution to mark the anniversary.

For Jones, it harks back to his childhood watching the show also featuring Squidward, Patrick the Starfish and Mr Krabs.

“I have fond memories of watching SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star from when I was younger, I loved watching the show. But this is a whole different ballgame,” Jones reflected

“Pizza Hut have knocked it out of the park again with a unique, eye-catching and just an awesome livery really.

“They say don’t meet your childhood heroes but what about putting them on your race car?

“In the iconic words of SpongeBob SquarePants ‘I’m ready’.

“I’m quite excited to get out on track at Albert Park, I’ve had a few decent results here in the past and the circuit is one that I genuinely like. Here’s to a good weekend.”

Pizza Hut will also launch a world-first ice cream flavour on April 3 in addition to a SpongeBob Squarepants inspired range, with more details to come.
