Two category test days have been revealed for the teams participating in this year’s Repco Supercars Championship.
Just like last year, the two days will be split with Queensland Raceway playing host to squads situated in the Sunshine State, while Winton will do likewise for all Victorian-based teams as well as Brad Jones Racing just located across the border in New South Wales.
Queensland Raceway has been the base for Gen3 testing, with multiple tests conducted since the new year. However, Wednesday February 16 will kick off the final season of the current specification Supercars for Queensland-based Triple Eight Race Engineering, Dick Johnson Racing, Matt Stone Racing and the new PremiAir Racing organisation.
Victorian-based Tickford Racing, Walkinshaw Andretti United, Team Blanchard Racing, Brad Jones Racing, Grove Racing and Team18 are expected to test the next week at Winton on February 22.
Super2 teams will test at Queensland Raceway the same day as the main game teams, while Victorian-based squads will do likewise at Winton a day after the Supercars teams on February 23.
The test days will feature some significant first including rookie Broc Feeney’s first appearance as a full-time Triple Eight Race Engineering Supercars driver, while Jack Le Brocq will make his first appearance for Matt Stone Racing and new teammate Todd Hazelwood will get reacquainted.
PremiAir Racing will make its maiden appearance since an ownership change where Garry Jacobson continues as driver, being joined by Chris Pither.
At Winton, Lee Holdsworth will steer his Penrite-sponsored Grove Racing Ford Mustang for the first time, Nick Percat likewise in his Walkinshaw Andretti United ZB Commodore.
Bryce Fullwood and Andre Heimgartner also make their first appearance for Brad Jones Racing, while Tickford Racing’s Jake Kostecki will have his maiden steer of a Mustang.
The Repco Supercars Championship starts under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 4-6.
