Cooper Murray will switch Chevrolet teams for the remainder of the season by replacing Declan Fraser at PremiAir Racing.
Murray finished sixth in the Repco Bathurst 1000 for Erebus Motorsport, but will make the switch to the Queensland-based PremiAir Racing for the Gold Coast, Sandown and Adelaide events.
Fraser has been dropped by PremiAir Racing following a tough return to the Repco Supercars Championship where he sits 21st in the title.
In turn, Murray’s spot at Erebus Motorsport will be taken by the squad’s endurance driver Jarrod Hughes.
“Jarrod has shown us enough throughout his time with Erebus to know there is something there worth investing in,” said Erebus Motorsport CEO Barry Ryan.
“This is about giving him the chance to experience Supercars, learn the car and see how he handles the step up, but we’re also looking at Jarrod as a longer-term prospect for Erebus.
“He’s worked hard to get to this point, and we’re excited to see what he can do with the opportunity.
“For Cooper, the move to PremiAir gives him another opportunity to gain experience and continue developing as a driver. We’re confident both guys will benefit from the changes.”
The in-season switch kicks off the Supercars silly season early as both teams begin planning for the 2027 season.
“We’re grateful to Declan for his efforts this year in the team, but we want to prepare ourselves for 2027 as early as possible,” said PremiAir Racing CEO Roland Dane.
“The opportunity to put Cooper into the car now cannot be passed up as it will only benefit our program development for next season.
“We wish Declan the best for the future.”
PremiAir Racing team owner Peter Xiberras added: “We’re thrilled to have Cooper joining us.“We’re looking forward to the balance of the year and will have more information to share in due course.”
Murray has displayed glimpses of promise during his first two season in Supercars highlighted by nearly winning the Repco Bathurst 1000 last year.
As for Hughes, he has been part of Erebus Motorsport’s co-driver line-up for the past two Ryco Enduro Cups and won last year’s TA2 Racing Muscle Car Series title.
The next round of the Repco Supercars Championship is the Gold Coast 500 on October 23-25.
