Taupo nearly Supercars ready

Preparations at Taupo International Motorsport Park for its first Repco Supercars Championship round are nearly complete.

The popularity of Supercars hasn’t diminished since the last visit in 2022 as all General Admission and Grandstand tickets have been exhausted for both race days, while tickets remain available for the historic opening day of practice on Friday.

Several grandstands have been constructed at the circuit to ensure fans get the best views of the 3.32km Taupo layout.

The circuit management at Taupo International Motorsport Park released images prior to the weekend of what changes have taken place ahead of the Repco Supercars Championship visit.

Other updates include to the grid boxes as the Supercars field will line-up around the final corner on freshly resurfaced asphalt, while the pit exit ensures the re-entry will occur on the outside of Turn 1.

Further maintenance such as the manicured infield and placement of grandstands around the circuit will make for an impressive environment when Australian race fans watch live on Fox Sports and Kayo, or the highlights package on Network Seven.

The pits and paddock facilities have also enjoyed a freshen up prior to the event.

A previous host of New Zealand’s round of A1GP, Taupo International Motorsport Park is owned by entrepreneur Tony Quinn and is the first new circuit to feature on the Repco Supercars Championship calendar since The Bend in 2018.

The third round of the Repco Supercars Championship at Taupo is on April 19-21.
