Taupo Supercars supports confirmed

The support cast has been announced for the Repco Supercars Championship’s return to New Zealand.

Moving to Taupo International Motorsport Park for 2024, the Supercars will be joined by four racing categories headlined by the Paynter Dixon Porsche Carrera Cup Australia Championship making its New Zealand debut.

One of the most competitive Porsche racing series in the world enjoys a strong New Zealand presence led by Fabian Coulthard and current championship leader Callum Hedge.

Bringing some retro flair will be the NAPA Central Muscle Cars where the high powered beasts of the past including Camaro, Mustang, Firebird, Challenger, Charger, Corvette, Monaro, GT-HO and many, many more.

Just like in Australia, New Zealand’s stars of tomorrow go through the Toyota 86 Championship where a highly competitive field will contest the rounds across the summer season culminating at Taupo in support of the Repco Supercars Championship.

Finally, the Australian Formula Ford Series has supported Supercars at various events during the last few years and New Zealand’s will at Taupo. Just like the Toyota 86 Championship, Formula Ford continues to be an important step in a young driver’s development and New Zealand has enjoyed a rich history in the category.

“As we gear up for our debut at Taupō in April, we’re thrilled to offer fans some of the most exciting categories on track over all three days of the event,” Howard said.

“With Porsche Carrera Cup Australia, Central Muscle Cars, the Toyota Gazoo Racing 86 Series, and Formula Ford on the undercard, fans of all kinds will have something to get behind, with a number of local drivers gearing up for a crack at line honours on home turf.

“Tickets are on sale now and we urge fans to get in early to secure their seats trackside for what will be a memorable addition to our proud history of racing in New Zealand.”

The Repco Supercars Championship will return to New Zealand for the Taupo ITM Super400 on April 19-21.
