After an upheaval of drivers and personnel during the off-season, Erebus Motorsport has proven the doubters wrong as Will Brown credits to the enjoyment radiating through the organisation.
Erebus secured two podiums last weekend on the Repco Supercars Championship return at Sydney Motorsport Park, as Brown himself started from the front-row as many times.
A slow pit stop during the opening race denied the 23-year-old a maiden podium, but he saved his best performance for last by finishing runner up behind Shell V-Power Racing’s Anton De Pasquale in Race 22.
“For the crew there was obviously a big change last year, Anton left us which was pretty rude,” he joked.
“It’s great, for the massive change up at Erebus and for us to be up there with two rookies, and having fun doing it.
“That’s what motorsport’s all about.”
Brown’s podium followed teammate Brodie Kostecki’s third place during the opening race under lights, but the rookie admitted he was pushing hard to pressure De Pasquale and may have compromised his race to do so.
“The car was awesome, it was fantastic for Erebus to be up there this weekend and to be consistently battling with these guys,” Brown said.
“I probably went out there and was driving a bit hard. They told me to drive to a number and typical young bloke I couldn’t do that so I just kept going flat out.
“I knew when I was getting close to him (De Pasquale) I was running out of puff. I tried giving him a few taps coming out of the final corner, but he had pretty good drive there. I pretty much overheated the tyres when I got there and had a lot of fun.”
