Thomas Randle and Brodie Kostecki share the Sunday poles

Castrol Racing’s Thomas Randle has scored his maiden Repco Supercars Championship pole position for Race 21 at Shell V-Power Motorsport Park as Brodie Kostecki will start from the prime spot for the final event.

Randle set a 1m 50.068s to hold off championship leader Kostecki by 0.052s in the lead Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus Chevrolet Camaro as Ford scored pole for the fifth time this season.

Matt Payne will start third in the Penrite Racing Ford Mustang falling just 0.210s short of the benchmark, but was ahead of fellow New Zealander Shane van Gisbergen in his Red Bull Ampol Racing Camaro.

Anton De Pasquale was fifth for Shell V-Power Racing followed by Optus Mobil 1 Racing’s Chaz Mostert, Bryce Fullwood leading the way for Brad Jones Racing in his Middy’s supported Camaro, the second Penrite Racing Mustang of David Reynolds, Will Davison and Mobil 1 NTI Racing driver Nick Percat.

Cameron Waters, Broc Feeney, Jack Le Brocq, Andre Heimgartner, Will Brown and Mark Winterbottom will all start outside the top 10 as all drivers involved in incidents yesterday returned to the track.

Kostecki set a last gasp 1m 49.482s to demote Waters in taking pole for Race 22 by 0.423s as Randle continued his good form in third ahead of Percat, Payne, De Pasquale, van Gisbergen, Davison, Snowy River Racing’s James Courtney and Fullwood.

Feeney once again missed the top 10 as did Brown, Heimgartner, Le Brocq, Reynolds, Mostert and Winterbottom.

Race 21 is set to begin at 12:50pm ACST/1:10pm AEST.
