Tickford Racing will have a new driver in its #56 Ford Mustang after the team announced Jake Kostecki will not race for the operation this season.
Rumours emerged prior to Christmas of a potential parting of ways between driver and team as a result of an altercation at the Supercars Gala Awards.
Signing at the start of last season on a two-year deal, Kostecki’s career at Tickford Racing will come to an end a year earlier following a disappointing season for the driver after moving across from Matt Stone Racing.
“Tickford Racing and driver Jake Kostecki have decided to part ways by mutual agreement and will not continue with their partnership in the 2023 Supercars Championship season,” the team said in a brief statement.
“Tickford wishes Jake well in his future endeavours.
“The team will make further comment on its 2023 driver line up in due course.”
The favourite to take the fourth Tickford Racing seat is last year’s Super2 champion Declan Fraser, despite already having his major rival for the title Zak Best already as part of its driving squad.
Cam Waters, James Courtney and Thomas Randle will continue with the squad in 2023.
Best was announced to have continued his association with the team this year, but will not contest rounds of Super2 rather electing to contest Wildcard events.
