Experienced sports administrator Simon Brookhouse has been announced as the new CEO at Tickford Racing.
Following on from the departure of long-time Team Principal/CEO Tim Edwards at the end of the 2023 Repco Supercars Championship season, Brookhouse will take on the latter role after successfully guiding the Tasmanian JackJumpers National Basketball Team through its formative stages.
It proved a successful debut season for the NBL’s newest franchise as the squad made it to the grand final series.
Brookhouse arrives at Tickford Racing with an impressive resume in sports administration, which includes stints as Director of VicSport and CEO of Golf Victoria after an initial career in the banking sector.
He arrives at the Campbellfield-based squad as it enters a new era following a downsize to two entries for 2024 and the departure of Edwards after nearly two decades.
“I’m very excited about the opportunity to join the highly credentialed Tickford Racing Team; they’re synonymous with success,” said Brookhouse, who will start his new role on February 19.
Managing Director and Tickford Racing Co-Owner Rod Nash was thrilled to welcome someone with the pedigree of Brookhouse to the team.
“To find a candidate with Simon’s history is a win for our team,” Nash said.
“He has a strong understanding of professional sport, is proven as an effective leader that can motivate and deliver clear communication, and has established relationships that have helped grow commercial revenue and ultimately a winning culture.
“Simon’s experience as a commercial orientated CEO will lead the team well in all aspects of our racing and business operating culture in order to continue to succeed.”
It has been reported a new structure will be installed at Tickford Racing this season, primary to this is splitting the Team Principal and CEO roles held by Edwards although there has been no hint on a candidate to fill the empty position.
Cam Waters and Thomas Randle will spearhead the Tickford Racing attack on this year’s Repco Supercars Championship.
