Victorian-based Repco Supercars Championship teams hit the track at Winton Motor Raceway to begin preparations for the season ahead.
An influx of livery reveals were conducted during the past week ahead of the test, though James Courtney’s Tickford Racing Ford Mustang and Scott Pye’s Team18 Holden ZB Commodore ran without sponsorship.
The pre-season test provided the first opportunity for many drivers, who had moved during the off-season to become acclimatised to their new machines for the season, namely Walkinshaw Andretti United’s Nick Percat.
Returning to the team he won the Bathurst 1000 with in 2011, Percat will race in NTI colours for season 2022.
Walkinshaw Andretti United also announced its co-drivers for the Bathurst 1000 with Warren Luff maintaining his position with the team, while Fabian Coulthard completes the line-up. Both completed laps today.
Brad Jones Racing’s new recruits Andre Heimgartner and Bryce Fullwood also sampled the squad’s ZB Commodores for the first time. Middy’s returns to support Fullwood, as R&J Batteries continues as a primary sponsor at Brad Jones Racing featuring on Heimgartner’s entry.
Jake Kostecki at Tickford Racing spent the day getting acquainted with his new Mustang as Castrol-supported Thomas Randle completed his second test day of the year after taking advantage of his rookie status.
Reigning Bathurst 1000 winner Lee Holdsworth is also adapting to a new team as he joins Grove Racing in one of its Penrite Mustangs alongside David Reynolds. Star signing and new Team Principal David Cauchi was also in attendance to start his tenure at Grove Racing.
Many co-drivers were also on hand to turn laps.
The Beaurepaires Sydney SuperNight at Sydney Motorsport Park on March 4-6 opens the Repco Supercars Championship season.
