An ecstatic Will Brown has taken his first victory of the season in Race 27 of the 2026 Repco Supercars Championship at Queensland Raceway.
This win for Brown marked a return to form after a controversial restrictor problem has limited his performance throughout the season thus far, but it was a moment to saviour at the end of Race 27.
Matt Payne again started from pole in the Penrite Racing Ford Mustang and this time made a great start to lead the opening lap, but earlier winner Brodie Kostecki snatched the lead exiting the final corner of the second circuit.
Kostecki was then forced into defence mode and this opened the door for Brown to make a challenge for third, which just fell short.
This battle allowed Kostecki to build a gap and Payne to slowly grow a margin out to Brown in third.
Chaz Mostert was the first of the leaders to pit from the top five, with Payne following a lap later to undercut Kostecki into the lead.
A two-tyre stop for Allen vaulted him past both Kostecki and Payne into the respective lead.
It went downhill for Kostecki after he ran through the gravel while challenging Allen and dropped to fourth, while Shell V-Power Racing Team stablemate Rylan Gray did similar, but failed to get out of the trap forcing the entry of the Safety Car.
The restart provided plenty of action as Allen led teammate Payne and Brown, but behind James Golding was spun after being squeezed by Anton De Pasquale.
Brown sat third behind the Penrite Racing pair until making a big move to take second from Payne at Turn 2, which also allowed Kostecki through also.
Another Safety Car was required after Tickford Racing Wildcard driver Ben Gomersall was stuck in the Turn 6 gravel trap following a shuffle with the two Erebus Motorsport entries.
It was a short interruption to the race before it restarted and Allen’s hold of the race ended when Brown made a stunning move at Turn 2 to take the lead and again bring Kostecki with him.
Brown in the end broke his win drought ahead of Kostecki and Broc Feeney as Allen maintained a solid result in fourth.
Mostert led home a fading Payne, Monster Castrol Racing’s Cam Waters, Dave Reynolds for Snowy River Racing, Thomas Randle and De Pasquale.
The battle for the Repco Sprint Cup has closed to a little more than 100-points between Payne and Feeney heading into Race 28.
