In a final systems check ahead of the Top 10 Shootout and the opening race at Hidden Valley Raceway, Will Brown has finished at the pointy end of the timesheets.
Setting a 1m 06.212s, Brown went off twice after achieving the time as other teams worked on race pace and in some cases pit stops ahead of the 48-lap event this afternoon.
Tickford Racing had a pit stop faux pas when the Monster Castrol Racing entry of Cam Waters was dropped off the jacks too soon when changing the right-hand-side tyres.
Brown led Red Bull Ampol Racing teammate Broc Feeney by 0.300s as Waters recovered to be third.
Shell V-Power Racing Team’s Anton De Pasquale was fifth ahead of local Darwin driver Bryce Fullwood for Middy’s Racing, Brad Jones Racing stablemate Andre Heimgartner in the R&J Batteries Camaro and Thomas Randle.
Bendis Racing’s Nick Percat was eighth as Shell V-Power Racing Team’s second Mustang of Will Davison and David Reynolds rounded out the top 10 for TRADIE Racing.
Mark Winterbottom just missed the 10 on old tyres as Brodie Kostecki was 16th, Chaz Mostert 20th and Ryan Wood 23rd to continue Walkinshaw Andretti United’s struggles in the Top End.
