Will Brown secures third career pole at Symmons Plains

The Coca-Cola Racing by Erebus team continued its dominance at the top of the timesheets, but this time it’s Will Brown to start from pole for the opening race of the Tasmanian SuperSprint.

Brown set a 50.878s to score pole ahead of Truck Assist racing’s Jack Le Brocq, who continues his great form entering the Gen3 era after missing pole by just 0.198s.

Monster Energy Racing’s Cam Waters led the way into the final segment of qualifying, but had to settle for third alongside championship leader Brodie Kostecki.

R&J Batteries Racing driver Andre Heimgartner bounced back from his poor weekend in Perth to be fifth ahead of Red Bull Ampol Racing’s lead contender Broc Feeney, while Le Brocq’s rookie Truck Assist Racing teammate Cameron Hill was an impressive seventh.

James Golding followed for Nulon Racing ahead of Shane van Gisbergen and Scott Pye in the East Coast Car Rentals Camaro.

The session was dominated by the Chevrolets as nine qualified in the final 10 positions.

Bryce Fullwood led the drivers to not make it past Q1 as Anton De Pasquale still struggled with a clutch problem, David Reynolds a gear-shift malady, Declan Fraser and Macauley Jones.

Q2 had a small bit of controversy as Will Davison was found to be impeding Feeney and was handed a four spot grid penalty as the Shell V-Power Racing Team driver failed to progress. He was joined by Chaz Mostert, Tim Slade, Nick Percat, Mark Winterbottom, James Courtney, Matt Payne, Thomas Randle, Todd Hazelwood and Jack Smith.

Race 10 of the Repco Supercars Championship is set to start at 3:50pm AEST.
